Planning Engineer – Transmission Line & Substation

About the role

Join AECOM’s Energy team as a Planning Engineer responsible for developing, integrating and monitoring schedules for transmission line, substation and HVDC packages. You will provide early warnings on schedule deviations, resource constraints and milestone risks to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractor work breakdown structures and Level 1‑4 schedules.
• Develop and maintain an integrated master schedule covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Validate activity logic, durations, calendars, constraints, milestones and resource loading.
• Prepare planned vs. actual S‑curves, resource histograms, look‑ahead schedules and milestone trackers.
• Monitor critical activities, identify emerging schedule risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyse schedule slippage, support delay‑event chronology and extension‑of‑time claim evaluation.
• Track engineering submissions, approvals, manufacturing, dispatch and installation of long‑lead equipment.
• Integrate transmission line schedules with substation, control, telecom and energisation interfaces.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of planning and scheduling experience on power infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 or approved project‑planning software.
• Experience with EHV transmission line and substation construction schedules.
• Knowledge of critical‑path analysis, delay analysis, progress measurement and earned‑value principles.
