Patient Care Assistant – Neuroscience Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant works on the Neuroscience Unit of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, providing direct patient care under the supervision of the Team Leader and registered nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs, intake‑output measurements, and assist with patient mobility.
• Provide morning and evening care including bed baths, oral hygiene, dressing, and linen changes.
• Assist with nutritional needs, distribute meal trays, and manage water pitchers.
• Perform technical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG, and oxygen or suction equipment setup.
• Maintain a safe environment, report equipment issues, and follow infection‑control policies.
• Respond promptly to call lights, document patient records, and report condition changes to RN.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
• No prior experience required.
• CPR certification is mandatory.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• Phlebotomy (trained).
• EKG performance (trained).
