Patient Care Assistant – Neuroscience Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant provides direct bedside care to patients in the Neuroscience Unit, supporting registered nurses with hands‑on tasks and patient monitoring. This full‑time, day‑shift position ensures safe, compassionate care for individuals recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs, intake‑output, weight, and height.
• Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and use of mobility devices.
• Provide personal care such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, and linen changes.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and oxygen or suction equipment setup as trained.
• Monitor and encourage respiratory exercises, incentive spirometry, and coughing.
• Document patient information, report changes to RN, and maintain a clean environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
• No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• Current CPR certification and ability to function as a sitter when needed.
