Part-Time Cashier – Dining Services

About the role

The Dining Services Department seeks a part‑time Cashier to deliver friendly, efficient service while processing cash, One Card, and debit/credit transactions. The role also includes maintaining a clean, organized dining environment for students and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the computerized point‑of‑sale (POS) system accurately.
• Monitor meal‑plan balances to ensure students have sufficient funds.
• Assist with stocking, cleaning, and sanitizing the dining commons.
• Work collaboratively with students and staff, and independently when needed.
• Supervise and train student workers as required.
• Keep all work areas tidy, debris‑free, and sanitized.
• Provide direction to student staff and maintain professionalism.
• Oversee distribution and return of take‑out containers and travel mugs.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Previous cash‑handling experience and strong math skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.
• Positive attitude when interacting with students and the public.
• Attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
