Packaging Operator

About the role

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring packaging equipment to safely produce high-quality products in accordance with Mars Quality, Food Safety, and Operational Excellence standards. The role supports achievement of production targets through efficient machine operation, autonomous maintenance, continuous improvement, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate packaging equipment including baggers, conveyors, check weighers, metal detectors, palletizers and associated systems.
• Monitor machine performance and process parameters to ensure product quality and safety.
• Achieve production targets while maintaining compliance with Mars quality, GMP, HACCP and safety standards.
• Perform product changeovers and line clearances efficiently.
• Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication and basic equipment checks as part of autonomous maintenance.
• Identify abnormalities and support maintenance teams during troubleshooting.
• Maintain workplace organization using 5S practices and weekly GMP cleaning.
• Participate in FMOS activities, Daily Direction Setting meetings and continuous improvement projects to drive OEE improvements.
• Record production data accurately, including downtime, quality deviations and performance metrics, ensuring audit compliance.

Required profile

• 3–8 years of experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or automated production environments.
• Experience operating automated packaging equipment such as baggers, conveyors and palletizers (preferred).
• Diploma or ITI qualification in a relevant engineering field.

Required skills

• Operation of automated packaging machinery (baggers, conveyors, check weighers, metal detectors, palletizers).
• Basic equipment maintenance including inspection, cleaning and lubrication.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and 5S workplace organization standards.
