OHS Inspector

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Inspector to support a major power and energy project in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The role focuses on implementing and monitoring safety requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and project‑specific procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
• Monitor contractor compliance with HSE plans, method statements, and permit‑to‑work systems.
• Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices by all personnel.
• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions to close safety observations and non‑conformances.
• Assist in incident investigations and prepare detailed investigation reports.
• Maintain HSE inspection records, checklists, permits, and related documentation.
• Liaise with site supervisors, engineers, and contractors to address safety concerns and improve overall site safety performance.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage workforce participation in HSE initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety inspection and monitoring.
• Experience on power, energy, transmission, or distribution infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record conducting site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
