Numerical Modeler / Coastal Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Numerical Modeler / Coastal Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. You will develop and apply numerical models to analyze coastal processes, design coastal structures such as breakwaters, dykes, seawalls and groins, and assess climate‑change impacts on coastal environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply advanced numerical models to simulate coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport and morphological changes.
• Conduct data analysis and interpret field measurements and model results.
• Design and evaluate coastal protection structures and shoreline management strategies.
• Assess climate‑change impacts on coastal environments and propose adaptation measures.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and project deliverables for clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex coastal engineering projects.
• Stay up‑to‑date with advancements in coastal engineering and numerical modeling techniques.
• Contribute to proposal writing and business development activities.

Required profile

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering, Marine Structures, Ocean Engineering or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in coastal engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel for field work and client meetings when required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with numerical modeling software such as MIKE, Delft3D and SWAN.
• Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB and R.
• Excellent data analysis and visualization capabilities.
