Metallic Engineer – Materials & Processes (Metallic Technology)

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Metallic Engineer to join its Materials & Processes (M&P) team in Bangalore. You will help translate cutting‑edge metallic research into reliable, in‑service aerospace solutions, working closely with material suppliers and cross‑functional program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise robust material and process specifications for metallic technologies.
• Generate engineering data, define, qualify and validate manufacturing processes.
• Support programmes, Centres of Excellence, procurement, quality and customer service with metal‑technology expertise.
• Analyse material‑related deviations, conduct failure analysis for test‑cell, manufacturing and in‑service issues.
• Oversee the full material value chain from raw material to recycling.
• Provide project‑management reporting, risk mitigation and qualification monitoring.
• Contribute to Airbus environmental initiatives such as Clean Sky.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in metallic materials engineering, preferably in aerospace.
• Strong knowledge of aluminium, titanium and special steels.
• Familiarity with international standards (SAE, ASTM, ISO, BS).
• Ability to work in a transnational, multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Material qualification and assessment.
• Statistical analysis of test results and failure reports.
• Mechanical testing (tensile, fatigue, crack propagation).
• Casting, forging and additive manufacturing processes.
• Application of SAE, ASTM, ISO and BS standards.
