Media and Research Manager

About the role

The Media and Research Manager will support MSF South Asia’s institutional and operational communications, advocacy, and research activities across the region. This role designs and coordinates media strategy, leads media relations, trains staff for external engagements, and creates original stories to raise movement‑wide visibility.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and build relationships with leading media professionals, generating quality coverage of MSF’s work.
• Serve as the primary media contact for India and South Asia, coordinating links with regional outlets.
• Brief and debrief field volunteers to prepare them for press interactions.
• Develop feature articles, interviews, op‑eds, presentations and other communication pieces to promote MSF’s field and advocacy work.
• Source insights from media professionals to shape pitches and ensure relevance.
• Organise background briefings and press conferences on priority topics.
• Advise on editorial content for the E‑newsletter sent to key media contacts.
• Provide frameworks for mapping exercises, branding needs, and socio‑political risk assessments.
• Monitor and build institutional engagement with South‑Asia stakeholders and encourage thought leadership.
• Design and coordinate execution of internal and external media strategy to support advocacy and operational objectives.
• Develop key messages and spokesperson talking points for projects.

Required profile

• Experience designing and coordinating media strategies.
• Proven ability to build and maintain media relationships.
• Experience briefing staff and volunteers for media engagements.
• Capability to produce feature articles, interviews, op‑eds and other communication materials.
• Knowledge of socio‑political risk assessment and alignment with DEI guidelines.
