Media and Celebrity Projects Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Media and Celebrity Projects Assistant to support the Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations at PETA India. The role will help drive media outreach, manage celebrity collaborations and ensure smooth execution of campaigns and events.

Key responsibilities

• Pitch PETA India’s campaigns and events to media outlets and conduct follow‑up calls.
• Coordinate the preparation of news releases and media pitches.
• Build, maintain and manage contact databases for media and celebrity projects.
• Manage a calendar of special dates related to media and celebrity initiatives.
• Maintain inventory and orderly filing systems for media and celebrity project needs.
• Develop target lists for media coverage and distribute news clippings.
• Liaise with PETA India staff and international affiliates on print ads and video PSAs.
• Research celebrity‑related news, create briefing notes and suggest contacts for photoshoots.
• Assist in coordinating photoshoots, celebrity events and brainstorming sessions.
• Prepare and maintain meeting notes for the media and celebrity projects team.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in media handling or public relations.
• Fluent in English and Hindi; knowledge of other Indian languages is a plus.
• Understanding of animal‑rights issues and campaigns is advantageous.
• Strong internet research skills and a keen interest in media and celebrity news.
• Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication abilities.
• Professional telephone manner and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Self‑motivated, team‑oriented and able to take initiative.
• Willingness to travel as required and maintain a professional, vegan lifestyle.
• Commitment to PETA India’s philosophy and objectives.
