Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Container Freight Station

About the role

The role involves maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment at a busy Container Freight Station. You will ensure that all machinery operates safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime for production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults in a timely manner.
• Install, assemble, and commission mechanical equipment as required.
• Replace defective parts such as bearings, seals, belts, couplings, valves, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
• Coordinate with production and other departments to minimise equipment downtime.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Required profile

• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
• Basic knowledge of scan tools.

Required skills

• Knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance practices.

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Basic scan‑tool usage.
