Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial & Mining

About the role

Join Armstrong Fluid Technology as a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on industrial and mining fluid components. You will lead the design of high‑pressure pump systems and cooling solutions for the mining sector, supporting growth across India and the APAC region from our Bangalore office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of new and existing high‑pressure pump systems, creating SolidWorks and AutoCAD models, Bills of Materials, GA drawings, P&IDs and O&M manuals while ensuring compliance with MA, underground explosion‑proof, PED and ASME standards.
• Manage product development projects using advanced project‑management tools, coordinate cross‑functional teams, track progress, mitigate risks and drive timely delivery.
• Drive product rationalisation, cost‑reduction and upgrade initiatives, act as liaison between the UK design team and China operations, and support manufacturing, sales and service teams with technical training.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in mining or industrial equipment design.
• Proven experience designing positive‑displacement plunger pumps or similar high‑pressure hydraulic systems (>100 bar) and deep knowledge of underground coal mining requirements.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin with strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously and lead cross‑cultural teams.
