Materials Project Management – Strategic Sourcing

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a senior professional to lead Materials Project Management with a focus on strategic sourcing. The role will drive cost‑reduction strategies, ensure supply continuity, and support new product introductions for semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and manage RFQs, lead‑time negotiations and should‑cost analyses for internal stakeholders.
• Develop and execute dual‑sourcing strategies to mitigate long‑lead‑time risks and maintain supply continuity.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define sourcing plans for NPI and pilot projects.
• Qualify supplier parts, perform cost roll‑ups, and resolve discrepancies between target and quoted costs.
• Oversee smooth transition of products from NPI to volume manufacturing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Electronics engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in sourcing, program management and supplier management.
• Proven experience with mechanical/electrical/electronics commodities and dual‑sourcing.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder‑alignment skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP MM module.
• Experience with cost modeling, markup and margin analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret multi‑level BOMs, drawings and special process specifications.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling and PLM software.
