Manufacturing Operator I – Fabrication Technician

About the role

The Fabrication Technician (Manufacturing Operator I) is responsible for producing and assembling metal or structural components based on engineering drawings and specifications. You will operate a range of fabrication equipment, perform welding and cutting tasks, and uphold high standards of quality and safety on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Perform fabrication processes such as cutting, welding, grinding, drilling, and bending.
• Operate machinery including shearing machines, press brakes, CNC machines, and plasma/laser cutters.
• Measure and mark materials to ensure accuracy and proper alignment.
• Assemble fabricated parts and structures according to specifications.
• Inspect finished workpieces for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE at all times.
• Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues and suggest process improvements.
• Maintain production and inspection records.

Required profile

• ITI in Mechanical, Fabrication, Welding, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools (vernier caliper, micrometer).
• Hands‑on experience with fabrication machinery (shearing, press brakes, CNC, plasma/laser cutters).
• Basic understanding of materials such as steel, aluminum and alloys.
• Problem‑solving and basic maintenance/troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with quality standards and inspection procedures.
