Manager – Ocean Freight Operations

About the role

The Manager – Ocean Freight Operations leads the export and import ocean freight activities for DGF, ensuring alignment with business strategy, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. You will drive cost‑effective processes, optimize cargo capacity, and deliver a high‑quality customer experience across DGF OFR stations and satellite locations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality export ocean freight operations at DGF OFR stations.
• Procure and manage cargo capacity, overseeing all port operations and regulatory filings (AMS, ACI, ISF, FMC).
• Implement CW1 best practices such as auto‑rating, auto‑costing, accurate cost estimation, billing, E‑Booking and file hygiene.
• Maintain operational compliance, error‑free documentation, and timely submission of management reports.
• Drive customer satisfaction by handling complaints, preventing revenue leakages, and avoiding claims or penalties.
• Manage relationships with carriers, suppliers, sales and customer service teams.
• Lead and develop the export operations team, setting KPIs, monitoring performance and fostering a culture of quality and cost consciousness.
• Oversee vendor payments, document release to customers, and conduct customer visits as required.

Required profile

• 8‑9 years of experience in shipping or logistics, preferably with ocean freight.
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in any field.
• Proven ability to lead teams toward operational excellence and high‑performance culture.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with teams, vendors and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Indian export/import trade, trade lanes, commodities and major industry players.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the CW1 operational tool and E‑Booking platforms.
• Experience using customs filing systems such as AMS, ACI, ISF and FMC.
