Manager – Controller, Global Financial Operations

About the role

The Manager‑Controller will lead accounting and investment equity governance for American Express entities within the Inter‑company & Opex COE team of Global Financial Operations. Based in India, the role ensures robust controls, compliance, and drives AI adoption across finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage efficient accounting for critical inter‑company and Opex areas.
• Govern internal investments, chart of accounts, and key balances, resolving exceptions during close.
• Maintain financial integrity and meet audit, regulatory, and SOX requirements.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders on enterprise initiatives, legal restructurings, and business changes.
• Identify centralisation opportunities and build COEs for process standardisation.
• Lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team of accounting subject‑matter experts.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant or equivalent with 8+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience working with finance groups.
• Proven people‑leadership and change‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
