LV Electrical Engineer – Rail Projects

About the role

AECOM is seeking a senior Low Voltage Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of rail infrastructure projects in Bengaluru. You will be responsible for ensuring high‑quality, compliant electrical solutions across stations and lineside systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of electrical design packages for rail stations and lineside M&E.
• Design low‑voltage systems such as platform lighting, LV power distribution, points heating and signalling power.
• Act as Lead Engineer or Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE), checking compliance with client requirements, industry standards and safety regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, electrical and lighting calculations, and CAD drawings using industry‑standard software.
• Provide technical and commercial oversight, including design planning, risk management and quality assurance.
• Mentor junior engineers and graduates, supporting their professional development and chartership.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, constructible designs.
• Ensure designs meet CDM, health & safety legislation and all relevant railway standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered status (or actively working towards chartership) with a recognised institution (e.g., IET) or equivalent Professional Engineer licence.
• 12+ years of experience in railway electrification and power design, including roles as Lead Engineer, CRE or checker.
• Deep knowledge of rail low‑voltage systems, especially lighting, points heating and signalling power.
• Proven ability to work independently and within a larger delivery team.
