Linux Systems Engineer – Enterprise Infrastructure

About the role

Fiserv is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to manage and support its enterprise Linux server environment. The role focuses on ensuring platform stability, security, and compliance across both on‑premises and cloud infrastructures.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Perform OS vulnerability remediation in line with security policies.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, and proactively resolve issues.
• Investigate and resolve Linux incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
• Support server provisioning, decommissioning, and lifecycle management.
• Implement automation using Shell scripting, Ansible, and other configuration‑management tools.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, sudo access, and authentication integrations.
• Support storage, file systems, LVM, NFS, and SAN activities.
• Troubleshoot server, application, network, and performance issues.
• Participate in major incident response, root‑cause analysis, and problem management.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with application, database, network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams.
• Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.

Required profile

• Strong experience administering Linux operating systems, preferably RHEL.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux patching, kernel updates, and OS upgrades.
• Proficiency in Shell scripting (Bash) and automation tools such as Ansible.
• Understanding of system services, networking, and performance tuning.
• Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and log analysis.
• Knowledge of security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
