Linux Administrator (4-8 years experience)

About the role

TCS is looking for an experienced Linux Administrator to join its Chennai team. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Linux environments, ensuring high availability, and supporting critical infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Install, upgrade and patch Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS systems, including major release upgrades.
• Perform LVM operations such as LV migration, mirroring, PV moves, and filesystem resizing.
• Execute Veritas Cluster tasks, including resource group failover, suspend, stop and start.
• Implement ASM disk addition and removal requests and coordinate hardware replacements.
• Manage user authentication issues and deploy project‑related components.
• Build new servers, resolve automation workflow problems, and apply firmware upgrades.
• Monitor system performance (memory, CPU, disk, swapping) and provide corrective actions.
• Configure swap files and schedule repetitive jobs using basic shell scripts.
• Troubleshoot both physical and virtual Linux servers.
• Administer Red Hat Satellite servers – maintain subscriptions, upgrade the server and create content.

Required profile

• 4 to 8 years of hands‑on experience as a Linux Administrator.
• Strong background in Red Hat/CentOS environments and enterprise storage solutions.
• Ability to work onsite in Chennai and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
