Legal Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Legal Manager to support our zonal business with legal, regulatory and litigation matters. The role ensures compliance with insurance laws, regulatory guidelines and internal policies while mitigating risk and providing legal advice to various teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with panel advocates on consumer cases, civil suits, recovery matters and criminal complaints; draft and respond to legal notices, affidavits and rejoinders.
• Track litigation status, ensure timely filings, appearances and compliance with court or consumer forum directions.
• Provide basic legal opinions to sales, claims and operations teams and interpret policy conditions, endorsements and insurance contracts.
• Identify legal risks in business decisions and recommend mitigative actions.
• Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations, support regulatory inspections, audits and compliance queries.
• Vet routine agreements such as empanelment agreements, NDAs, MoUs, service contracts and vendor agreements; maintain a repository of legal documents and case files.
• Liaise with external advocates, law firms, investigators and recovery agencies; coordinate with the head‑office legal team on escalated matters.
• Support employee disciplinary matters and HR‑related legal issues as required.

Required profile

• LLB (3‑year or 5‑year) from a recognized university; enrollment with State Bar Council preferred.
• 0–2 years of post‑qualification experience; fresh graduates with relevant internship or litigation exposure are welcome.
• Prior exposure to insurance, BFSI or corporate legal environment is desirable but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of insurance laws, consumer protection laws and civil procedure.
• Strong drafting and documentation abilities.
• Analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with the ability to work under tight timelines.
• Proficiency in MS Office and legal case management systems.
