Legal Director

About the role

The Legal Director will lead the company’s legal strategy, advising senior leadership on risk, compliance and commercial matters. This senior position reports to the Director of Legal and works closely with the General Counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and advise on legal risks related to partnerships, new product development, regulatory compliance, data security, privacy and intellectual property.
• Lead deal negotiations, resolve real‑time commercial issues and manage pre‑litigation disputes.
• Draft, review, negotiate and counsel on a wide range of commercial agreements, including automotive supply, operations, services, partnership and marketing contracts.
• Coordinate with external counsel for new products, market expansion, compliance, privacy and security matters.
• Oversee compliance with mandatory policies such as Code of Ethics and Anti‑corruption, and manage fraud reporting and whistle‑blower procedures.
• Provide guidance on data protection regulations, including GDPR, to data security teams.

Required profile

• LLB (or BA LLB) with LLM or equivalent from a reputable law school.
• 10‑14 years of experience as in‑house counsel, complemented by top‑tier law firm experience.
• Deep knowledge of the Indian Companies Act, corporate commercial law, complex contracting, sourcing and supply‑chain issues.
• Experience in the automotive, electric or renewable sectors is preferred.
• Proven track record in managing litigation, including consumer disputes.
