Legal Counsel

About the role

Scapia is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to strengthen its legal function across commercial advisory, regulatory matters, risk management, and dispute resolution. The role partners with business teams to enable growth while managing legal risk, working closely with cross‑functional stakeholders, external counsel and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on commercial, regulatory and operational issues to business units.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, partnership contracts, vendor agreements, customer‑facing terms and strategic initiative documents.
• Identify legal risks and propose pragmatic mitigation measures for new products and initiatives.
• Prepare and review responses to regulatory notices, summons, complaints and other communications; liaise with regulators and government authorities.
• Support investigations, regulatory information requests and compliance matters.
• Assist in managing litigation and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel, drafting legal notices and tracking case progress.
• Conduct legal research on evolving laws and regulations, produce legal opinions, internal guidance and risk assessments.
• Maintain legal trackers, dispute management information systems and support governance initiatives.

Required profile

• LL.B. from a recognised institution.
• 7–9 years of post‑qualification experience in corporate, commercial or advisory legal roles.
• Proven experience handling commercial contracts, regulatory matters and business advisory.
• Exposure to litigation and dispute resolution is preferred.
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments or technology sectors is a plus.
