Legal Counsel

About the role

The Legal Counsel will support Maersk’s Global Customer Contracting agenda by managing high‑value maritime, logistics and commercial agreements. You will work closely with commercial account owners, product teams and other stakeholders to balance customer expectations with legal protection.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and finalize complex maritime, logistics and commercial contracts, including those with key clients.
• Lead negotiations with customers and external parties to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Own the legal contracting process for a designated region, partnering with business stakeholders.
• Conduct stakeholder alignment calls and provide strategic input on contract design, playbooks and negotiation strategy.
• Ensure compliance with legal policies and mitigate risk exposure.
• Partner with internal teams to align legal protections with commercial priorities.
• Provide legal guidance on contractual risks and support risk‑management strategies.
• Support the team manager in quality oversight and supervise new joiners.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge‑management initiatives.
• Stay updated on legal, commercial and industry trends.

Required profile

• Law degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) with substantial contract experience.
• 8+ years of contract review, drafting and negotiation experience, preferably in an international law firm or corporation.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to handle complex agreements independently.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); additional language knowledge is a plus.
