Legal Counsel – India (Hybrid, Bengaluru)

About the role

Weir is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its Minerals operations in India. You will help the business manage commercial contracts, ensure compliance with employment law, and support legal operations across the region while contributing to a safer, more sustainable mining industry.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal contact for commercial contracts in India, reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements.
• Develop and manage legal operations and strategy, including process improvements and legal training.
• Provide strategic advice on Indian employment law, handle investigations and company secretary matters.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external Indian law firms.
• Support regional legal needs, focusing 90‑95% of time on India with occasional APAC assistance.
• Travel internationally and domestically as required to support business and legal operations.
• Demonstrate commitment to zero‑harm safety behaviours.

Required profile

• Admission to practice law in India.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial contracts and legal advisory within a reputable law firm or multinational in‑house team.
• Strong commercial contract drafting, negotiation and risk‑management skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, able to explain complex legal issues to diverse audiences.
