About the role
The Lead Welding Engineer will drive the design, optimisation and implementation of welding procedures across our projects. You will ensure structural integrity and reliability of welded components while aligning with international standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise welding procedures, techniques and systems.
- Review and approve welding processes and select appropriate consumables for carbon steels, stainless steels and exotic alloys.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS and other relevant codes and standards.
- Apply advanced welding techniques such as GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG and SMAW.
- Develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Conduct non‑destructive testing (NDT) for weld inspection and perform failure analysis.
- Troubleshoot welding defects, analyse quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Estimate welding equipment costs and support budgeting.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality control teams to integrate welding processes seamlessly.
Required profile
- Proven experience in designing, implementing and optimising welding procedures.
- Ability to review and approve welding processes and select suitable consumables.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS and other national/international welding standards.
- Hands‑on expertise with GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG and SMAW techniques.
- Extensive background in creating WPS and PQR documentation.
- Familiarity with NDT methods for weld inspection and experience in failure analysis.
- Competence in troubleshooting welding defects and analysing quality data.
- Understanding of welding equipment selection and cost estimation.
- Effective collaboration with cross‑functional engineering teams.
