Lead US Tax Analyst (Form 1040 & 1041)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead US Tax Analyst to oversee the preparation and review of individual (Form 1040) and fiduciary (Form 1041) tax returns for our clients in India. The role involves ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while delivering high‑quality work during peak tax seasons.

Key responsibilities

• Review and sign‑off on Form 1040, Form 1041 and related schedules.
• Handle multi‑state, expatriate, trust and estate tax filings.
• Validate tax returns prepared by junior staff for accuracy and compliance.
• Analyze financial documents such as W‑2s, 1099s, K‑1s, brokerage and trust statements.
• Perform book‑to‑tax adjustments and reconcile financial data.
• Apply IRS rules and federal/state tax regulations.
• Identify tax‑saving opportunities and provide basic planning insights.
• Coordinate with on‑shore teams and clients for missing information.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to internal quality procedures.
• Mentor junior tax preparers and stay updated on US tax law changes.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience preparing US individual and fiduciary tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of Form 1040, Form 1041 and related schedules.
• Experience with multi‑state, expat, trust and estate tax matters.
• Ability to work onsite in Chennai or Ahmedabad with standard 08:00‑16:00 shift.
• Proven track record of meeting tight deadlines during tax season.

Required skills

• Form 1040 and Form 1041 preparation.
• Tax software: CCH Axcess, GoSystem RS, UltraTax, ProSeries, Drake.
• Analysis of W‑2, 1099, K‑1, brokerage and trust statements.
• Book‑to‑tax adjustments and financial reconciliation.
• In‑depth understanding of IRS regulations and state tax rules.
