Lead Software Technologist I - C++ Embedded

About the role

Philips is looking for a Lead Software Technologist to drive platform development for embedded medical devices. You will mentor teams, enforce quality standards, and champion AI‑enabled tools in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor platform development teams on software architecture, design patterns, and embedded systems best practices.
• Establish and enforce quality standards, development methodologies, and coding practices to improve reliability and performance.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews and ensure compliance with IEC 62304 and FDA regulations.
• Optimize application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in resource‑constrained embedded Linux environments.
• Drive adoption of AI‑enabled development tools and demonstrate measurable productivity gains.
• Collaborate with product management, QA, regulatory, and other engineering leads to define and deliver features.
• Support software lifecycle activities including sustaining engineering, defect resolution, and platform evolution.

Required profile

• 15+ years of hands‑on experience in embedded Linux software/system architecture.
• Deep expertise in modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20), templates, STL, and design patterns.
• Strong command of object‑oriented programming, memory management, multithreading, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience designing and implementing medical or safety‑critical applications.
• Familiarity with medical communication protocols such as HL7, FHIR, IEEE 11073 SDC, DICOM (preferred).
• Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded, cybersecurity, secure boot, and sandboxing for medical devices.
