Lead Software Engineer – Java SDK & API Development

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join its Emerging Payments Technology team in Pune. You will focus on building Java‑based software development kits (SDKs) and API services that power MasterPass, the company’s digital wallet solution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SDKs and API services for multiple payment products.
• Collaborate with product managers, technical leads, and other delivery teams in an Agile environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to ensure high code quality.
• Research new frameworks, prototype proof‑of‑concepts, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication with excellent collaboration skills.
• Solid hands‑on experience with Java, J2EE, and application servers.
• Experience integrating web services and building web or mobile‑browser based applications.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Test‑Driven Development, Git, and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
