Lead Software Engineer – Big Data (Airbus Skywise)

About the role

As a Lead Big Data Developer you will drive technical excellence across the Airbus Skywise ecosystem built on Apache Spark. You will define technical standards, establish best practices and enforce "Golden Rules" throughout the codebase while mentoring the team.

Key responsibilities

• Understand complex business processes and the technical architecture of Airbus applications.
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, end‑to‑end performance optimisation solutions on Palantir Skywise.
• Define and enforce technical best practices, conduct source‑code audits and perform deep‑technology root‑cause analysis.
• Design high‑quality server‑side processing architectures using Python, Java and Scala to ensure reusability and maintainability.
• Mentor development team members and guide them to build robust, easy‑to‑navigate code bases.
• Engage directly with European customers to gather requirements, manage expectations and present technical deliveries.
• Act as a technical bridge between business requirements and Big Data execution.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of total IT experience.
• 4+ years of hands‑on Palantir Skywise development.
• Minimum 3 years of customer‑facing support experience with European customers.
• Proven experience working in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
