Lead Platform Architect – Linux, Virtualisation & VMware

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Platform Architect to shape the design and delivery of its platform infrastructure. The role covers the full lifecycle from bid and concept through architecture, build, test and production deployment, focusing on Linux‑based and virtualised environments.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑level designs for platform infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain the technology roadmap for Unix/Platform solutions aligned with end‑of‑support dates.
• Collaborate with delivery, engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless implementation.
• Guarantee that new solutions meet performance, scalability, availability, security and manageability standards.
• Identify, assess and communicate technical risks to business and operations stakeholders.
• Evaluate and trial emerging products and technologies for future projects.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in Linux operating systems (Oracle Linux, RHEL).
• Extensive experience with virtualization technologies such as OVM, KVM and OLVM.
• Strong knowledge of VMware ESX and related ecosystem.
• Proven track record delivering complex technical designs in high‑availability environments.
• Ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Flexibility to adopt new products, services and ways of working.
