Lead Legal Counsel – Technology & Commercial Law

About the role

As a Lead Legal Counsel at Chargebee, you will act as a strategic partner shaping the legal framework for the company’s global operations and commercial transactions. You will provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring contracts align with international standards while supporting safe innovation in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements and vendor contracts.
• Provide counsel on data protection and privacy regulations to ensure global compliance.
• Develop and implement risk‑mitigation strategies for commercial engagements.
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Product and other teams to streamline contract lifecycles and approval workflows.
• Monitor evolving legal landscapes in technology and update internal policies and SOPs accordingly.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in technology and commercial law within an in‑house legal department or reputable law firm.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent advanced legal degree from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience negotiating complex SaaS transactions and multi‑jurisdictional commercial agreements.
• Deep understanding of global privacy frameworks, including GDPR and other international data‑protection standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms.
• Experience using AI‑driven legal tools to streamline workflows.
