Lead Counsel – Strategic Litigation

About the role

The Lead Counsel – Strategic Litigation will head high‑stakes litigation and regulatory matters that affect the airport business. This senior legal professional will design end‑to‑end litigation strategies, coordinate with external counsel, and advise senior management on risk mitigation and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and lead high‑value, precedent‑setting cases, including arbitrations, writ petitions, tariff disputes, and environmental matters before tribunals such as NGT, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
• Develop comprehensive litigation strategies, prepare legal positions, and oversee case briefing, documentation review, and argument development with senior counsels and law firms.
• Coordinate with law firms, senior advocates, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely filing, cost control, and effective representation in regulatory and contractual disputes.
• Conduct legal research, monitor judicial trends, maintain precedent databases, and produce MIS dashboards on case status, risks, and outcomes.

Required profile

• LL.B. (LL.M. preferred) with 10‑12 years of post‑qualification experience in litigation and regulatory law, including at least 5 years handling high‑stakes cases in infrastructure, aviation, or similarly regulated sectors.
• Proven track record of achieving favorable outcomes in strategic litigation and managing litigation budgets.
• Strong ability to interpret complex contracts, concession agreements, and regulatory directives.
