Laborer I / II - Utility System Maintenance

About the role

The municipality is seeking Laborer I and Laborer II candidates to support the repair and maintenance of city water and sewer systems. The role involves hands‑on work in the field, assisting skilled crews with line replacement, leak repairs, and equipment operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in replacing or repairing damaged water and sewer lines.
• Unstop sewer lines and operate a sewer jet machine.
• Perform preventive cleaning of the sewerage system on a regular schedule.
• Clear drainage structures, ditches, and rights‑of‑way of debris.
• Service and clean equipment used for utility work.
• Participate in tapping water and sewer lines, repairing leaks, and installing or repairing water meters and meter boxes.
• Operate boring machines for trenchless installations.

Required profile

• Applicants will be hired at Laborer I level and may advance to Laborer II based on experience, licenses, certifications, and satisfactory performance.
• No specific degree is required; prior experience in utility or construction maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and follow safety protocols.
