Junior Safety Engineer – Aviation

About the role

The Junior Safety Engineer will support the Sr. EHS Manager in ensuring that all airport development projects meet Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements. This onsite role involves monitoring contractor compliance, conducting safety inspections, and supporting incident investigations across terminal, airside, and landside works.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor implementation of the Project EHS Management Plan and contractor safety programs.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, including high‑risk activities such as working at height, lifting, excavation, confined spaces, electrical and hot works.
• Review and verify risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures for construction activities.
• Identify, record, and escalate unsafe acts, conditions and safety risks; ensure adherence to permit‑to‑work systems and PPE requirements.
• Support incident, accident and near‑miss investigations, track corrective actions and maintain safety records, registers and reports.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, inductions and awareness programs for workers and contractors.
• Monitor environmental compliance, waste management and pollution control measures on site.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and project teams on EHS matters and support emergency preparedness drills.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience in construction safety/EHS management, with at least 5 years on airport or aviation infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in contractor safety management, site inspections, risk assessments, permit‑to‑work systems and incident investigations.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001, statutory safety regulations and airport operational safety requirements.
• Strong observation, communication and problem‑solving skills; ability to work under demanding project schedules.
