Java/J2EE Back End Developer – Associate

About the role

PwC is seeking an experienced Java/J2EE Back End Developer to join its Advisory GovTech team in Kolkata. You will work on government client projects, helping design and implement emerging technology solutions that drive digital transformation and societal impact.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse user and system requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design and develop Java‑based web applications using Spring, Spring Boot and micro‑services architecture.
• Create and maintain database schemas and integrate with JPA/Hibernate.
• Implement messaging solutions with JMS technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Write clean, test‑driven code, perform unit and integration testing, and debug applications.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure security, performance and scalability.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience as a Java Software Engineer or similar role.
• Strong background in building Spring/Spring Boot web applications.
• Experience with government or large‑scale enterprise projects is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and proactive ownership of delivery.
