Inventory Manager

About the role

We are seeking an organised, detail‑obsessed Inventory Manager to own fabric and raw‑material inventory end‑to‑end. You will forecast needs, maintain optimal stock levels, ensure vendor compliance, and guarantee that every metre of fabric meets shade and quality specifications before production.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast fabric, trim, and material requirements from the order pipeline and production plan, maintaining stock that avoids shortages and overbuying.
• Set reorder points and safety stock for core fabrics; track all materials by type, shade, dye lot, GSM, width, and supplier.
• Manage trims and consumables (buttons, zippers, threads, linings, labels) and packaging materials.
• Coordinate ready‑for‑dyeing fabric with dyeing to keep dye‑lots consistent.
• Prepare order packets with all correct raw materials, ready for production use.
• Ensure packet‑making is free of bottlenecks so production is never left waiting.
• Inspect incoming fabric and materials against spec sheets (shade, weave, GSM, width, shrinkage, defects) and manage vendor rejections and returns.
• Proactively follow up with vendors on order status, resolve delays, and negotiate price, MOQs, and lead times.
• Maintain a vendor database with performance records and develop backup vendors to avoid single‑source risk.
• Keep accurate inventory records, run regular cycle counts, and reconcile recorded stock against actual stock.
• Track fabric waste and collaborate with cutting and production to minimise it in line with sustainability commitments.
• Supervise the Inventory Assistant and step in to handle packet and stock work when needed.

Required profile

• Strong organisation, follow‑through, and attention to detail.
• Comfort with numbers, spreadsheets, and basic computer skills.
• A good eye for fabric and colour, with the discipline to insist on correct shades and quality.
• Confidence to follow up firmly with vendors and negotiate.
• Initiative and a genuine drive to learn and adapt as the role and business grow.
• 1–4 years of experience in inventory, store/stock management, procurement, or textile/apparel operations.
• Working knowledge of English and Hindi.
