Internal Auditor – Retail Credit

About the role

The Internal Auditor will independently assess the retail lending lifecycle, from sourcing to disbursement and collateral management, ensuring compliance with credit policies, asset quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate credit appraisals for retail and SME products (home, auto, personal loans, LAP) against policy, income norms, and risk appetite.
• Verify borrower eligibility, document verification, and CIBIL report analysis.
• Review underwriting exceptions, pre‑disbursement conditions, and loan documentation accuracy.
• Audit collateral perfection, vehicle hypothecation, and legal valuation reports.
• Analyze post‑disbursement tracking, early warning signals, NPAs, and potential fraud.
• Assess collections and recovery processes for overdue accounts.
• Utilize audit tools and data analytics to identify high‑risk loan pockets.
• Draft objective audit findings with root‑cause analysis and track remediation.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of banking audit operations and retail loan products.
• Strong understanding of credit policy frameworks and RBI credit norms.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and objective decision‑making.
• Ability to structure solutions, work in complex environments, and drive closure of audit observations.
