Indirect Tax Audit Specialist

About the role

Maersk is seeking an Indirect Tax Audit Specialist to lead routine tax audits, prepare tax submissions and represent the company before tax authorities. The role involves detailed analysis of indirect tax exposures, coordination with internal teams and external consultants, and ensuring compliance with global tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine indirect tax audits and draft or vet tax submissions.
• Appear before tax authorities, courts and attend on‑site hearings in various locations as required.
• Prepare and review data for submission to tax authorities and track deadlines for filings, appeals and hearings.
• Report tax risk, exposures and audit outcomes to stakeholders and support financial reporting.
• Provide inputs to the compliance team based on tax authority observations.
• Research, draft memos, objections and other documentation to support tax positions and manage audits allocated by the Tax Controversy group.
• Collaborate with functional tax groups, corporate functions and external consultants to achieve integrated audit outcomes.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably in a global operating environment or a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Proven experience handling tax assessments, audits and appellate matters.
• Strong track record of liaising with tax auditors, consultants and revenue authorities.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed transactional analysis and manage tax controversy cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Results‑oriented self‑starter capable of managing multiple projects and thriving in a changing environment.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems for indirect tax configuration and reporting.
