Hydrogeologist – Advanced Modelling Engineer

About the role

AFRY is seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist to join its Design Center in India, working closely with the Swedish hydrogeology team. The role focuses on advanced groundwater and hydraulic modelling for complex infrastructure projects, translating model results into practical design solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced hydrogeological and hydraulic modelling for multidisciplinary projects.
• Take technical responsibility for selected projects and ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Prepare technical documentation, design calculations and provide specialist input throughout project phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and support competence development within the team.
• Contribute to the development of design methods and engineering practices.

Required profile

• Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, Hydrology or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in hydrology or hydrogeology engineering, with at least 5 years in modelling.
• Proven experience in setting up, calibrating and evaluating numerical groundwater or hydraulic models.
• Strong proficiency in English and ability to work with non‑English source material.

Required skills

• Numerical modelling tools: MODFLOW, FEFLOW, SEEP/W, HEC‑RAS.
• GIS tools: ArcGIS, QGIS.
• Groundwater data analysis tools such as Aqtesolv.
• CAD/BIM tools: AutoCAD, Quadri.
