Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager oversees daily operations of the housekeeping, recreation/health club and, where applicable, laundry departments at our hotel in Chennai. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure guest rooms, public areas and employee zones are clean, well‑maintained and meet brand standards while controlling costs and supporting guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily housekeeping shifts, including room cleaning, public‑area upkeep and laundry services.
• Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms and public spaces, communicating status to the Front Desk promptly.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, linens and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Develop and monitor departmental budgets, striving to meet or exceed financial targets.
• Schedule staff according to business demand, track attendance and enforce company policies.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, performance feedback and recognition for housekeeping team members.
• Participate in departmental meetings and communicate goals consistently across the team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of housekeeping or related experience, or
• A 2‑year degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field (no experience required).
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, budgeting and guest‑service standards.
