Homeroom Teacher – Primary Years Programme (PYP)

About the role

The Homeroom Teacher – PYP will lead the learning and development of pupils within the IB Primary Years Programme, creating an engaging, inclusive and inquiry‑led environment that supports academic progress and wellbeing. The role involves planning and delivering inquiry‑based units, assessing student progress and fostering a positive classroom climate.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry‑based learning aligned with the IB PYP.
• Develop and implement Units of Inquiry and meaningful learning experiences.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor and document pupil progress and learning.
• Promote the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL).
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Support the social, emotional and academic development of pupils.
• Participate in school events, meetings and professional development.

Required profile

• 5–6 years’ teaching experience in an IB school.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed. or equivalent).
• IB PYP workshop certification is essential.
• Strong understanding of inquiry‑based learning and the IB philosophy.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• A caring, reflective and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
