Head of PR and Communication

About the role

The Head of PR and Communication will be the primary voice of Malabar Group, shaping and delivering the brand’s narrative across national and regional markets. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will drive strategic public‑relations initiatives, manage media relationships and lead a high‑performing communications team from the company’s global headquarters in Calicut.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies for products, brand identity and corporate communications at both national and regional levels.
• Lead, mentor and expand a forward‑thinking PR team to support the company’s long‑term growth.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key media outlets to maximise coverage and enhance brand credibility.
• Oversee all PR activities, including media engagements, press releases, brand campaigns and crisis communication.
• Act as the main contact point for stakeholders, media and the public, facilitating meetings and ensuring clear communication.
• Liaise with government authorities and community organisations on initiatives and projects.
• Collect, analyse and apply data and feedback to improve stakeholder relationships and public perception.
• Prepare content for messages, press releases, media communications and internal memorandums.
• Support the media team in handling inquiries, arranging interviews and providing accurate information.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in public relations, corporate communications or a related field.
• Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey brand values effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and crisis communication.
• Experience working with government bodies, community groups and other external stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with experience using data to inform communication strategies.
