Head of Nursing – Patna

About the role

The Head of Nursing will provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services across the hospital in Patna. This senior role ensures safe, evidence‑based, patient‑centric care while driving clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and workforce efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all nursing departments (IPD, ICU, OT, Emergency, OPD, Specialty Units) and supervise nursing superintendents, supervisors and officers.
• Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI and statutory regulations, monitoring quality indicators such as medication errors, falls, pressure injuries and infections.
• Develop and implement nursing policies, SOPs, protocols and clinical guidelines.
• Plan and optimise nursing manpower, recruitment, onboarding, retention and succession.
• Oversee mandatory training programmes (BLS, ACLS, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Biomedical Waste Management).
• Drive patient safety initiatives, infection prevention, clinical governance and continuous quality improvement.
• Collaborate with medical, quality, operations, HR and other support functions to improve patient outcomes.
• Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, manage consumables and equipment, and support new unit commissioning.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in nursing services across multiple hospital units.
• Strong knowledge of NABH, JCI standards and statutory regulatory requirements.
• Experience in workforce planning, recruitment and staff development.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and participate in hospital committees.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Fire safety and infection control training.
• Biomedical waste management expertise.
• Proficiency with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
