Head of Department – Education (Integrated B.A./B.Sc. B.Ed. Programs)

About the role

Chandigarh University seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as Professor and Head of Department (HoD) for the Education Department (UITTR). The role involves steering the integrated 4‑year B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. programmes, aligning them with NEP 2020 and the university’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership to the Education Department.
• Plan, implement, and continuously improve the integrated B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. programmes.
• Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, research, and student outcomes.
• Mentor faculty, promote interdisciplinary research, and foster collaborations.
• Develop curriculum frameworks in line with UGC, NCTE, and NEP 2020 guidelines.
• Oversee accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Encourage publications, funded research, seminars, FDPs, and industry‑academia partnerships.
• Manage departmental budgeting, scheduling, and faculty development activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Education, Mathematics, or Physics from a recognized university.
• M.Ed. with at least 55% marks.
• M.Sc. in Mathematics or Physics with at least 55% marks.

Required skills

• Strong leadership and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated research aptitude with quality publications.
• Knowledge of accreditation frameworks such as NAAC/NCTE.
• Familiarity with Outcome‑Based Education (OBE) and NEP 2020 implementation.
