Head of Collections Litigation (Retail)

About the role

The Head of Collections Litigation (Retail) leads the legal function for the retail portfolio of Aditya Birla Finance Ltd., driving time‑bound, cost‑effective legal actions to resolve disputes and achieve recovery targets across a large customer base.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate, revise and execute legal strategies for over 50,000 retail accounts covering products such as STSL, MLAP, STUL, PL, BIL, Digital, Vehicles Finance and others.
• Set, monitor and achieve NPA targets, recovery numbers and provision releases in line with corporate goals.
• Advise 4+ National Collections Managers and senior leadership on litigation trends, strategic changes to loan agreements and regulatory impacts.
• Collaborate with the Head of Legal and Head of Collections on cross‑functional initiatives and policy updates.
• Lead a team of 35 (direct and indirect) professionals, ensuring effective case management and compliance with RBI regulations.

Required profile

• 12‑15 years of experience in banking/finance litigation, preferably within an NBFC environment.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding recovery targets through legal channels.
• Deep knowledge of Indian banking regulations and RBI guidelines.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, capable of guiding large, diverse teams.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
