Head Accountant – Power Plant (Nagpur)

About the role

The Head Accountant will lead the accounting function for a power plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective cash‑flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, assigning workloads and monitoring performance.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing cycles and prepare financial statements.
• Assist senior management with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, statutory regulations and applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain and improve internal controls and safeguard company assets.
• Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships and support treasury activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA/PGDM a plus).
• Professional certification such as CPA, CA or CMA strongly preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–4 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Hands‑on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.
