Halwai Chef Commi I – Indian Sweets Specialist

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Jaipur and focuses on preparing, cooking, and presenting Indian sweets and traditional desserts for IHG hotel guests. You will work under senior chefs to ensure high quality, consistent taste, and flawless presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Indian sweets and desserts following standard recipes.
• Assist senior chefs with menu execution, mise en place, and bulk production for buffets, banquets, and à la carte service.
• Manage portion control and ensure consistent texture and flavor.
• Support inventory rotation and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
• Comply with food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards.
• Collaborate with the broader kitchen team to deliver an excellent guest experience.

Required profile

• Strong skills in preparation of Indian sweets and desserts, including traditional halwai techniques.
• Ability to follow standard recipes, maintain portion control, and ensure consistent quality.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and kitchen sanitation.
• Experience as a commis or in a halwai section of hotels, restaurants, or professional kitchens (preferred).
• Basic culinary education or formal training in culinary arts or hotel management (advantage).
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Clear communication skills and ability to follow senior chefs’ instructions.
