Ground Control Station Software Engineer

About the role

IZI is looking for a full‑time remote Ground Control Station (GCS) Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain the software that powers its aerial platforms and consumer imaging devices. You will work closely with hardware, firmware and product teams to deliver reliable, secure, and user‑friendly solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain GCS applications and associated back‑end services.
• Integrate telemetry, mission‑planning and real‑time data handling into the platform.
• Write clean, efficient code and conduct peer code reviews.
• Optimize system reliability, security and performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical documentation and continuous improvement of development workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and enhance overall user experience.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms and systems concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with back‑end web development, APIs, microservices and cloud/on‑prem integration.
• Experience in real‑time or mission‑critical applications, preferably in robotics, drones or avionics.
• Familiarity with networking, messaging protocols and telemetry handling in distributed systems.
• Comfort with version control, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and collaborative development practices.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and communicate clearly across cross‑functional teams.
