Geology/Geotech Expert

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Geology/Geotechnical Expert to join a major power and energy project in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The successful candidate will lead geological and geotechnical assessments, support design teams and ensure comprehensive ground evaluation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise geological and geotechnical investigations, including field investigations and data collection.
• Review soil, rock and subsurface conditions and provide technical input to design and foundation teams.
• Monitor geotechnical risks, recommend mitigation measures and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Prepare technical reports and document findings for internal and client review.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals and support design development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 7‑10 years of experience in geological and geotechnical assessments, preferably on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of investigation methods, soil mechanics and foundation design principles.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal abilities.
