GE Smallworld Magik Application Developer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled GE Smallworld Magik Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade geospatial applications. You will write custom Magik code, manage spatial databases, and integrate Smallworld GIS with external systems supporting utility and telecommunications networks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop custom Magik extensions for GE Smallworld Core Spatial Technology.
• Create and configure objects, physical models, and network topologies in the Version Managed Data Store (VMDS).
• Integrate Smallworld applications with corporate IT systems using FME, Java, Oracle, or REST APIs.
• Develop and run data migration scripts to import external spatial data.
• Perform version upgrades, apply patches, and debug performance issues in existing Magik codebases.
• Produce technical documentation, including design specs, data model diagrams, and deployment guides.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on development experience with GE Smallworld Magik.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Magik programming (methods, exemplars, vectors, collections).
• Experience with GE Smallworld Office Suites (Electric, Gas, Water, or PNI/FTTH).
• VMDS database administration and conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with Swarm, Magik Development Tools (MDT) or VS Code Magik extensions.
• Basic knowledge of Java, Python, SQL for integration tasks.
